Psychotherapy

Rather than viewing challenges as something inherently wrong, psychotherapy fosters an understanding that they are natural and valuable opportunities for growth and self-awareness. Together, we work collaboratively to navigate life's complexities, develop effective coping strategies, practice mindfulness techniques and uncover the pathways to your well-being. As a psychotherapist, my role is that of a facilitator, guiding and supporting you on your journey of self-discovery and integration.

There has been a long evolution to psychotherapy, and it's interesting to note the etymology of the word itself. The term "psychotherapy" derives from the Greek words "psyche," meaning soul, mind, or spirit, and "therapeia," meaning healing. This origin beautifully underscores the holistic nature of psychotherapy, which focuses on healing and growth of the entire self.

A 1:1 Psychotherapy session runs for 60 minutes and is offered in-person and online. There’s a lot that could happen in these sessions, but usually, we begin by checking in mentally, emotionally, and bodily, and then we work with what is presenting itself. It is YOUR time. Psychotherapy sessions are primarily centred on dialogue and language and we use them to explore all parts of the experience. In saying this, there are many tools and exercises that we might use depending on what you resonate with, including visualisation, somatic experience, movement, breath and so on.

Psychotherapy is a collaborative and evidence-based therapeutic service that aims to support individuals in improving their emotional well-being and enhancing their overall quality of life. In psychotherapy, you can expect a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences with a trained professional. The focus is on understanding the various aspects of your human experience, helping you gain insights, and discovering your unique strengths and inner resources.
